Solution

A Solution contains all the elements required to automatically retrieve transactional information from existing business systems via Data Sources, transform it into meaningful performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPI) and generate SSAS Databases or other Data Warehouse Outputs (e.g. Profitbase WebPlan, Profitbase Sim or generic type) from Module Definitions.
All definitions for a Solution are stored in a Solution Database (prefixed w/pbSol_). Data from sources and data generated by the solution can be stored in the Solution Database or in a separate Data Warehouse Database (prefixed w/pbDW_). Each Solution Database can store definitions for one or more Solutions.

Add a new solution:

• Select menu File | New Solution
• Select 'Create New Solution' from Start-section in navigator.

These choises will lead you through 'Adding new solution wizard'.

Solution Management:

• Solution Settings contains start/end date, language settings and the selected data warehouse database.
• Solution Partitions contains partition setting for the data warehouse database and the SSAS database.
• Dimension Key Settings contains settings for surrogate and distinct key settings.
• Access Control contains settings for what users can access/witch roles the have within an solution.
• Solution Placeholder Tags contains settings for solution wide tags.
• Script Extensions is a folder to add solution wide scripts.
