Dimension Key Settings

Select the <//Solution Configurations / Dimension Key Settings > folder.

The main goal here is to administer the way dimension keys are used.

The Procedure

Select a Dimension ID to enable the editor used to edit Surrogate or Distinct Key.

Tick Uses Shared Surrogate Key or Uses Shared Distinct Key for a particular Dimension ID or click Tuning Advisor.

Tuning Advisor - Command Buttons

Perform Changes

Click to use Surrogate and Distinct Key settings specified.
 

Save and Process New Keys Settings

Click to process new Dimension Key Settings.

Show/Hide Log

Click to see Process log.

Analyze Tuning Possibilities

Click to start Analyze Tuning Posssibilities processing.

Stop

Click to stop Analyze processing.

Show/Hide Log and Details

Click to see Analyze log and Analyze details.

Surrogate / Distinct Key settings - Command Buttons

Save

Click to save the information defined to the Solution database.

Reset

Click to undo any edits and or deletes and redisplay the original configuration as of the most recent Save.

Tasks and Data

Processing

Manual updates to the Data Warehouse Table are performed using the command buttons in the Tasks and Data form. The following commands are available:

Browse Edit

Click to browse or edit the Data Warehouse Table.

Browse Use

Click to browse the dimension key usage.

 

Show/Hide Delete and Reload Operations

Reload

Click to rebuild the table based on data already in the Data Warehouse.

Delete Table 

Click to Delete Table. (not available for Surrogate Keys)

Delete Use Table

Click to Delete Use Table.

Start Index

The increment seed for the surrogate key.

Track Slowly Changing Attributes

DimensionID will be handled as a type 2 Slowly Changing Dimension.

Fact Date Column

The Date Column to join on to find the correct slowly changing dimension row. 

Change From Expr.

Expression used to fill the SCDFromDate field when historical attribute is changed.

 

Statistic Columns

 

New

Click to add new Statistic Column.

Delete

Click to delete Statistic Column.

 

Slowly Changing Historical Attributes

 

New

Click to add new Historical Attribute.

Delete

Click to delete Historical Attribute. 

 

Surrogate / Distinct Key - Right Click Options

New Surrogate/Distinct Key

Click to open the form that allows for definition of a surrogate/distinct key.

Delete

Click to delete the selected Surrogate/Distinct Key. An "Are you sure?" dialog requiring a confirmation is displayed before the delete is performed.

View Surrogate Keys and Surrogate Key use.
